Dodge officials stated today that the company would launch its first fully electric muscle vehicle in 2024, according to Stellantis executives. Dodge has established Hemi, Hellcat, and Demon as household names for its engines and muscle cars, respectively. Dodge Brand CEO Tim Kuniskis, however, believes that the Hemi V-8 engine has reached its limit and that the only way to increase performance is to include electric motors. It will be done if an electric motor would make it faster, according to the team.

According to Kuniskis, the Dodge brand has gained market share every time it has improved the performance of its muscle vehicles, such as the Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Charger.

In his opinion, Dodge will continue to offer muscle cars in the future, but they will be quicker. According to Kuniskis, motors and batteries are the logical progressions of the contemporary muscle vehicle since technology will be utilized to magnify them in the future. In 2024, the Dodge brand messaging will be centered on the introduction of the world's first battery-electric muscle vehicle, which will be designed to tear up the streets rather than the environment.

The firm unveiled a short teaser of a classic-looking car with a full-width, '60s-style grille and a triangular Dodge emblem from the 1960s. The vehicle was not shown (pictured below). During an intriguing video clip, Dodge portrays the new electric car as a coupe-like vehicle doing an obvious 4-wheel burnout—implying that all-wheel drive is on the table. It also responds to the issue of why Dodge, a brand renowned for internal combustion mayhem, would launch an electric vehicle by saying that "Performance forced us to do it"—supporting Kuniskis' statement that this is not simply a ploy to meet any regulatory or EV need.

With the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group, a new company called Stellantis has been formed. The firm plans to offer electric cars for all of its 14 brands. (Formerly known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, FCA was a major laggard in the industry's adoption of electric vehicles.) They will be sourced from four specialized battery electric vehicle (BEV) platforms. The muscle vehicles will be produced by STLA Large, which claims to be able to go 500 miles on a single battery charge. The battery capacity will vary from 101 to 118-kilowatt hours. The STLA Large was created for all-wheel-drive performance vehicles and muscle cars with high horsepower.

98 percent of vehicles from 14 companies in Europe and North America will be electrified by 2025, according to Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stallantis Automotive Group. The battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) will account for more than 40% of sales in North America by 2030, and they will account for 70% of sales in Europe. It is currently unclear whether this new electric muscle car will be offered in addition to the existing two-door Challenger and four-door Charger models (again, the vehicle shown in the teaser photo appears to be a retro-styled amalgamation of both), or whether it will be offered as a replacement for them. Whatever happens, Dodge and its specific brand of fast and strong American muscle aren't going away anytime soon, so strap up. It is just a matter of exchanging one source of energy for another.
