Sony's latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 III, was unveiled in April, however, the firm did not provide specific price or availability information for the device.
Both of these things are now known to us. The Sony Xperia 1 III has just gone up for pre-order in the United States, with a suggested retail price of $1,299.99. On August 19, it will be available for purchase at retail outlets.
It's possible that the price may make you gasp in surprise, considering that Sony's smartphones aren't nearly as popular as those from Apple or Samsung, who sell their flagships for considerably less money (the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Galaxy S21 Ultra both cost $1,199). Sony phones, on the other hand, have become niche items in recent years, targeted at customers who want the very finest camera they can get in a phone at a reasonable price.

In terms of imaging, the Sony Xperia 1 III offers something unique: a triple 12-megapixel back camera with a primary sensor, an ultra-wide sensor, and a periscope camera with a variable telephoto lens, which allows the camera to flip between 3x and 5x optical magnification as needed. Additionally, the camera is equipped with a 3D time-of-flight sensor, a burst mode that enables it to capture 20 still images per second, and real-time tracking, which utilizes artificial intelligence to maintain focus on moving objects.
There are a few more notable specifications, including a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display that runs at 120Hz, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, a 4,500mAh battery that supports wireless charging, front-facing stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm audio port.
