Nintendo has unveiled a new variant of the Nintendo Switch. Many had predicted that the next system will be unveiled before or around E3 2021, which will take place in June, and Nintendo made the announcement on July 6 on its official Twitter account. While speculations indicated that this new Switch will have a new Nvidia processor, the reality is that this new OLED model is just a display update. However, Nintendo states that this Switch OLED variant can only handle 1080p in TV mode, despite speculations claiming that it will be capable of 4K resolution due to a supposed Nvidia chip update. After its release on October 8th, the Switch OLED variant will be available for $350.

With the exception of a new screen, this upgraded edition comes with an adjustable stand for desktop play, 64GB of built-in storage (up from 32GB), an updated dock with a built-in wired ethernet connection, and better audio for handheld or tabletop play. The TV dock is only capable of transmitting “up to 1080p via HDMI in TV mode,” indicating that the reported 4K capability is not included with this OLED Switch.

According to The Verge, Nintendo has verified that there are no significant internal modifications to the CPU or RAM. According to a Nintendo representative, the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) does not feature a new CPU or additional RAM compared to earlier Nintendo Switch versions.

The new Switch comes almost two years after the release of Nintendo's Switch Lite, a smaller and less expensive version of the Switch that cannot be connected to a television. The Nintendo Switch Lite launched in September 2019 with a price tag of $199.

Nintendo's Switch has done very well in the market, with the system having dominated the US sales rankings for almost two years in a row. Switch lifetime sales have reached 84.59 million units delivered since the console's debut in 2017, bringing it closer to the Wii console's lifetime sales record of 101.63 million units supplied in 2011. This revised Switch model will very certainly contribute to sales being even closer to those of the Wii.

THE DATE AND PRICE OF THE NINTENDO SWITCH OLED SYSTEM:

The Nintendo Switch OLED will be released on October 8, 2021, and will cost $349.99 / £309.99 / AU$539. It will be available for pre-order on October 8, 2021. The current Nintendo Switch costs $299.99 in the United States, £279.99 in the United Kingdom, and $449 in Australia, while the Nintendo Switch Lite, which is a handheld-only device, costs $199.99 / £199.99 / AU$329.95 in each of those countries.

It implies that the Nintendo Switch OLED will cost $50 / £30 / AU$90 more than the regular Switch model, which isn't a significant premium to pay for the additional capabilities.

FEATURES OF THE NINTENDO SWITCH OLED:

We already know that the organic light-emitting diode (also known as OLED) display on the Nintendo Switch OLED is the device's primary selling point. It is generally considered to be one of the finest display technologies available since it does not need a backlight to show pictures in the same way that an LCD screen does. Instead, it displays pictures utilizing the light produced by each individual pixel, allowing you to achieve perfect inky blacks and greater contrast levels than ever before.

The OLED display on the Nintendo Switch is also bigger in size than the LCD screen on the original Nintendo Switch. It's now 7 inches, which should give you a little more breathing room when you're huddled over a Nintendo Switch screen playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with friends, and it should also give you a little more immersion when you're playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, which is set to release sometime in 2022.

Some pleasant surprises include a larger, adjustable stand as well as improved audio quality; unfortunately, it does not seem that the Nintendo Switch OLED will support spatial audio technologies like Dolby Atmos. As it stands, it seems like the speakers on the device itself have only been improved to provide a better listening experience whether playing in portable or tabletop mode, respectively.

It's more like what we'd find on a Microsoft Surface, and it makes it a lot simpler to locate the optimal posture to play while in tabletop mode.

Another new feature is cable LAN connectivity, which will come as a comfort to those who believe that the Nintendo Switch's online games aren't the most robust or dependable when played via Wi-Fi connection. It will also help games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 3, the latter of which is scheduled to arrive in 2022.

Fortunately, internal storage is another area in which the Nintendo Switch OLED outperforms the original version of the console. When compared to the original Nintendo Switch model, the Nintendo Switch OLED has 64GB of storage, while the previous Switch model only had 32GB, and it still supports compatible microSD cards.

Furthermore, the Nintendo Switch dock has been given a slight makeover, as it now has rounded corners for a more contemporary appearance, and it is available in an off-white hue that complements the new white color scheme of the Nintendo Switch OLED screen. It is also available in the original Neon Blue/Red color scheme with a black dock, which is a nice touch.

The new Switch dock, like the previous model, will be available for purchase separately through the Nintendo online shop (it will not be available for purchase at retail locations) and will be compatible with the original Switch. We anticipate the new dock will be priced in the same range as the previous dock, which was $60.

Is the Nintendo Switch's OLED display 4K resolution? Rumors Says It Is.................

Surprisingly, the answer is no. One of the most anticipated features of the Nintendo Switch Pro was the ability to output at 4K resolution when docked. However, the Switch OLED will only be capable of outputting at 1080p, exactly like the standard Switch, which is disappointing. This seems to be a significant lost opportunity for Nintendo, and it may make the decision to upgrade a bit more difficult for some.

Additionally, it's probable that the Nintendo Switch OLED display will retain the 720p resolution of the original Switch as well, which implies that the current Switch software will not need to be updated. This implies that reports of Nvidia DLSS support, which would use AI upscaling to assist games in reaching 4K resolution, are no longer a possibility.

A 4K resolution may have made the system more costly, which is why Nintendo may have chosen to stay with the original 720p output in handheld mode and 1080p output while docked instead of going with a higher resolution.

Anything may happen... Who knows, it's possible that the rumors are true... All We Can Do Is Hope

Games Compatibility:

Is it possible to play all Nintendo Switch games on the Nintendo Switch OLED? Absolutely. The Switch OLED is basically a nicer version of the Nintendo Switch, which means that it is compatible with every Switch game. Nintendo, on the other hand, warns that certain gaming experiences using Toy-Con attachments from the Nintendo Labo series may be different on the Switch OLED owing to the bigger screen on the device.

Currently, available Switch accessories will also function with the Nintendo Switch OLED model, according to Nintendo. However, items like screen protectors will not be compatible owing to the Switch OLED's bigger screen, as previously stated.
